Ascend Consulting

Ascend Consulting

Most consultants hand you a deck. We hand you a working system.

We build workflow software designed around how your business actually operates — not how a generic platform thinks you should. For founders and operators who are done adapting their teams to rigid tools.

What this looks like

A ₹3 crore BOQ that took half a day in Excel now takes under 10 minutes.
An advisory CRM went from spreadsheets to 260 releases in six months — the team's primary operating system.
WhatsApp order confirmations, inventory, and dispatch unified in one platform. The spreadsheets are retired.

Who We Are

Workflow systems built around your business, not the other way around.

At Ascend Consulting, we design and build workflow systems specifically around how your business actually operates. We bring 16 years of operational experience across large organisations and our own ventures, combined with AI-assisted development that lets us move quickly without the overhead of a traditional software agency.

Our founder is a graduate of IIM Lucknow with a career spanning L'Oreal India and Minimalist - roles where making complex systems work for real operators was the job. Every system we build is informed by that experience, including the hard-won lesson of having built a tool that failed adoption in our own company.

We know what it feels like when the system doesn't fit the team. We build so that doesn't happen.

Who We Work With

We do our best work in a specific situation.

We're not a general-purpose software agency. This is an honest description of where we add the most value - and where we don't.

You have a specific operational problem

Something in your business is held together by spreadsheets, WhatsApp threads, or institutional memory. You know it's breaking. You want it replaced with something that actually works for your team.

You're a founder or operator with the authority to act

We work directly with the person who owns the problem. If the decision requires three rounds of committee approval before a single wireframe gets signed off, we're probably not the right fit.

You want a system built around your workflow

Not one that asks your team to change how they work to match a platform. We start from how your business actually operates, then build to fit it.

You value adoption over delivery

You'd rather have one module your team uses every day than a fully-featured system that sits unused. So would we.

Probably not a fit if…

  • Consumer apps or B2C products at the idea stage
  • Pure tech builds with no operational process to digitise
  • Engagements where the brief is “build us a startup”
  • Projects where the decision-maker isn't in the room

What We Build

Replacing spreadsheets, WhatsApp threads, and memory with systems.

Three recent engagements that show the range of problems we work on.

D2C Cooking Ingredients Brand

Internal ERP

Challenge

Operations running on seven interconnected spreadsheets - inventory, production, dispatch, and sales - with cascading errors whenever any sheet was updated.

Outcome

Full ERP covering item masters, bills of materials, production orders, dispatch, inventory ledger, and reporting. The stock-take module and automated WhatsApp order communications were adopted immediately. The modules that solved one clear pain point were used; the ones that asked the team to change their entire workflow were not. That lesson now drives every engagement we take on.

SEBI-Registered Mutual Fund Distributor

CRM & Advisory Platform

Challenge

Client data spread across WhatsApp notes, Google Forms, and spreadsheets. No unified view of investments, insurance, and interaction history. Advisory conversations undocumented. No system to track renewals or follow-ups.

Outcome

Bespoke CRM with unified client profiles, SIP and insurance tracking, an advisory consultation workspace with live financial calculators, a quote workflow, and auto-assign booking. Security-hardened from day one: row-level access control, full audit logging, PAN encryption at rest. 260 releases over six months. Now the team's primary operating system.

Sports Infrastructure EPC Company

Internal Operations Platform

Challenge

Every project BOQ built from scratch in Excel. Vendor selection a memory test across old emails. No review workflow before quotes reached clients.

Outcome

Two-workflow platform: a BOQ generation engine with sport-specific templates, area-based auto-fill, and a maker-checker review stage; and a vendor database mapped by capability, rate, and region. A ₹3 crore project BOQ now takes under 10 minutes versus half a day in Excel.

What changes

From the way it was to the way it works.

These are real transitions from recent engagements — not hypotheticals.

Before

Operations across seven interconnected spreadsheets. One wrong update cascades errors across the whole stack.

After

Single platform. Orders captured automatically. WhatsApp confirmations sent without manual action. The spreadsheets are retired.

Before

Client data across WhatsApp notes, Google Forms, and spreadsheets. Advisory conversations undocumented. Renewals tracked by memory.

After

Unified CRM with live financial calculators, a structured advisory workspace, and a full audit log. 260 releases in six months. Now the team's primary operating system.

Before

Every project BOQ built from scratch in Excel. Vendor rates and contacts recalled from memory or hunted across old WhatsApp threads. Half a day per quote.

After

A ₹3 crore BOQ in under 10 minutes. Sport-specific templates, a vendor intelligence panel, and a maker-checker review workflow before any quote reaches a client.

Before

Requirements discussed in calls, assumed, never formally confirmed. Scope expands mid-build with no baseline to measure against.

After

Gap analysis completed by your team in a structured file before coding starts. Every build decision traces back to something you explicitly confirmed.

Before

Why was this built this way? Nobody knows. The developer who made the decision has left. Changing anything feels risky.

After

Every significant decision documented in an Architecture Decision Record at the time it was made. Full context intact for whoever works on it next.

How We Work

A process built around adoption, not delivery.

The goal at every stage is a system your team actually uses - not one that gets handed over and abandoned.

01

Listen and map

We begin with recorded discovery calls. Transcripts are reviewed carefully to understand not just what your team does, but how they actually do it - the workarounds, the edge cases, the friction points.

02

Collect sample files

We ask for the files used at each step of your current workflow: spreadsheets, forms, WhatsApp exports, reports. These reveal the real data structure, not the assumed one.

03

Map gaps and frame decisions

We identify where the current process breaks down and what decisions need to be made before building starts. These are shared as structured documents for your review and sign-off before we write a single line of code.

04

Document everything before we build

We maintain an architecture decision log, a technical debt register, a versioned roadmap, and a change log throughout. You always know what we're building, why, and what's coming next.

05

Build iteratively, validate continuously

We ship working functionality in stages and validate with your team at each step. We do not consider a feature done until your team is using it.

Our Ventures

We build on both sides of the table.

In addition to client work, we co-found and build ventures. These keep us on the builder side of every conversation.

AI-assisted executive development

Stealth Venture

An AI co-pilot for mid-to-senior managers in large enterprises, anchored to each organisation's own competency framework. Currently in stealth.

Sleep apnea care & screening platforms

Digital Health Venture

A co-founded health technology venture with two products: a multi-stakeholder sleep apnea care platform connecting patients, clinicians, sleep centres, and distributors; and a sleep apnea screening platform with an SDK for device integration.

Work With Us

Tell us about your workflow. We'll tell you what we can build.

We work best with founders and operators who know something is broken and want a system built around the way their team actually works - not a SaaS subscription that requires their team to change.
